Sale price Price $59.00 Regular price

This is a pre-order. We estimate the milk will be here the week of May 30th. We will ship all pre-orders as soon as possible. PLEASE READ: The SCAI clinic is no longer stocking our donkey milk, so please order early to be sure you have the milk your child needs. To guarantee the freshest milk possible, we are importing small batches at a time.

IMPORTANT:

  • Do not use acidic water to reconstitute or your milk may not mix well! (Acidic water can cause the milk to clump. Read below for more details.)
  • This is 100 grams of pasteurized, freeze dried 100% donkey milk, which, when reconstituted equals approximately 1 quart of liquid donkey milk.

As the first to import donkey milk to the United States, we made the decision to partner with the best in the world, Asinus Atlanticus, to bring only cruelty free donkey milk to the USA.

Our Azores Islands donkeys are free to browse on island grasses and supplemented with only organic corn. No Pesticides or GMO feeds are used. Mass production, processed feed, and cruel practices used to produce cheaper donkey milk results in donkey milk that can not be expected to have the same results as our cruelty free donkey milk.(We were horrified to learn it is common practice in Italy to make baby donkeys into sausage.)

RECONSTITUTING INTO LIQUID MILK:

We recommend reconstituting using bottled Fiji brand water or another ALKALINE water.

Below info is FOR SCAI (TIP) PARENTS ONLY:

We typically do not recommend heating donkey milk in order to protect the benefits, however, children in the SCAI TIP allergy program are required to denature (boil) the milk for their program.

We had our research scientist look into the clumping issue a few parents have reported when denaturing different types of milk in the SCAI allergy program.

Dr. Duarte discovered that this clumping phenomenon is a chemical reaction the can occur if the casein in milks are exposed to too much acidity. The acidic ph causes the casein in the milk to separate, which causes the clumping. (The proteins are still intact, but unless you’re Goldilocks or one of the Three Bears, clumpy milk isn’t super appetizing.)

The extra acidity could be introduced by a spoon, a dish, a pan that was used to cook something acidic previously, or a difference in the ph of the water.

Below are some suggestions to help prevent your milk from ending up looking like Goldilocks’ Porridge (casein precipitation.)

DON’T:

  • Do not use any water that is acidic!
  • If using city or well water, test the ph! Water ph may vary from alkaline to acidic when the city changes the chemicals used to purify the water. Well water can change from environmental factors, etc.
  • If you have a Reverse Osmosis Filtration system or Distillation system, they can make your water acidic. (For all my science nerds: “Distillation and reverse osmosis can lower the pH of water, making it acidic. The purified water absorbs carbon dioxide from the surrounding air, which then forms carbonic acid. It takes 2 hours for water to absorb the carbon dioxide, at this point the water has established equilibrium and will be acidic….” Water Filters That Lower pH - And How They Do It - Water Purification Guide

Do:

  • Use a good ALKALINE or NEUTRAL ph bottled water
  • Check the ph of water immediately before mixing and / or denaturing any milk. The water needs to be either neutral ph or ph above 7.
  • Use a good quality stainless steel milk double boiler that has not been used to cook anything else
  • Use clean sterile utensils if stirring milk
  • You can order an alkaline water purification system for your home HERE (email Dr McGinn and tell him it is for donkey milk and you are in the SCAI program.)

In the denaturing process, parents could also scald the milk by using a traditional pot directly on the stove burner. A milk double boiler would help prevent this (similar to this one: link to milk double boiler.)

If a double boiler isn’t available, below is information on how to to prevent burning, scalding, and curdling the milk when boiling directly on the stovetop:

How to boil milk correctly

“Boiling or heating milk changes its nutritional composition…it is crucial to boil milk the right way to retain the nutrients present it in... nutritionist Lovneet Batra explained the right way to boil milk…

"Do not boil the milk too quickly," the nutritionist highlights. You often become impatient and boil the milk on high flame, which is not the right way, as per nutritionist Batra.

"Bringing it to a boil too quickly can burn the sugars and curdle the whey protein. That causes scorching on the bottom of your pan and a skin to form on top,"… The expert explained that it is best to heat the milk slowly on low to medium flame. Also, stir it while it comes to a boil. She explained that stirring and heating gently help hold the water, carbs, fat and protein in milk together.”

When starting any new food, testing a very small amount for sensitivities or allergic reactions is recommended. (Donkey Milk is very different in composition than other milks.)

If your child is chronically ill and doesn't detox well, please read the information on herxheimer reactions and why those with health issues may do best if they start with a VERY small amount and increase slowly to the amount that works best for them. (For example: our daughters with autoimmune disease can now drink 1/2 cup, 2x a day. HOWEVER, they started with a much smaller amount and worked up to that gradually. Some children only need a few tablespoons or even a few teaspoons a day or less. This is NOT like cow or goat milk! Donkey Milk is the closest in composition to human breast milk. ***WE ALSO HAVE RAW DONKEY MILK AVAILABLE NOW at our Oklahoma Donkey Dairy. It is frozen in glass jars, so you can pick up a cooler full at a time. If you would like to schedule a raw milk pickup at our farm in Oklahoma, go here.

From Asinus Atlanticus: "Placed in Terceira Island, Azores, the company was established in 2012, and has a team of experts present through all the processes of extraction, transformation and exportation of the donkey milk. With a growing number of animals, we also hope to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity in our Region, by rediscovering the value of this endangered species.

RICH IN OMEGA-3
WHY IN THE EUROPEAN AZORES ISLANDS?

The geography and weather conditions make our donkey milk unique and naturally rich in omega 3.

Situated in the central ridge of the Atlantic North, amidst the West Coast of the European Continent and the East coast of North America, the Azores Archipelago  represent the European westernmost border. It’s location in the central área of the North Atlantic Ocean, has placed the Azorean Islands, for centuries, in the center of the transatlantic routes. The archipelago’s nine islands, of volcanic origin, present diverse landscape aspects with common geological features. The Azores have a maritime temperate climate. The latitude, the insularity, the landscape and the warm gulf current are different factors that determine the climate characteristics of the archipelago, particularly it’s temperature and rainfall ranges. The weather conditions of the Azorean islands, with  frequent and heavy rainfall all trough the year, combined with the volcanic, very fertile, soil, lead to ever so green and productive pastures, of grass rich in ómega 3 fatty acids.

WHAT IS THE LYOPHILIZATION PROCESS?

Lyophilization our freeze drying is a dehydration process for the preservation of diverse substrates – food, bacteria, active ingredients- in which they are frozen and the water in them is extracted by sublimation (direct transition the solid to the gaseous state). Our team has at its disposal new and modern equipment and partnerships that ensure the utilization of the most recent lyophilization techniques and the product’s quality.

Advantages:

  • Keeps intact the nutritional properties
  • Prolonged preservation of the product without chemical additives
  • Sterilization of the product
  • Easy to transport

Individual experiences with Donkey Milk may vary with respect to both effectiveness, and potential adverse or allergic reactions. Testimonials and results given about Donkey Milk are from real people, however, individual results may vary depending on your sensitivity, age, and health. ALWAYS test a very small amount of a new food to check for sensitivity or allergic reactions. PLEASE READ FULL DISCLAIMER HERE
